Induction

So apparently if you are at least 39 weeks pregnant and your cervix has started to dilate you are good candidate for induction. We are choosing to go with this option! Tomorrow morning we will be off to the hospital very early in the am to have this baby!

I am very excited and a little apprehensive about this. I have heard some bad labor and delivery stories with Induced Labors. (Please keep those to yourselves at this point–thanks!) I have heard some very good Induced Labor stories (those are welcomed!)

Even though this pregnancy has been harder on me (more morning sickness, back aches, round ligament pain, random aches & pains, etc) I am a pretty healthy mama. I seem to always have low blood pressure and nice even weight gain–really no reason to complain. So on one hand I am SOOO ready to NOT be pregnant anymore, but on the other hand I feel almost guilty for making a choice to have this baby. It’s weird.  I have been assured by many (most importantly my Doctor) that it is a medically safe decision. The baby’s lungs are fully developed. He is getting bigger every week and measuring right on target.

Being induced is also very convenient for other reasons:

  • My parents will be able to be here to help take of Mark. How nice to not have to rush around in the middle of the night and worry about him being taken care of.
  • I can get everything at the office taken care of. I finished all of my big projects at work on Friday. Ahhhh! Such a sigh of relief to know everything is taken care of!!!
  • I can get my house prepared. I can stock up on the essentials, clean, organize and do laundry  before any house guests or visitors arrive. (This is something I did worry about each night. I would think….what if I go into labor tonight? The _____(fill in the blank) is a wreck!)
  • Mentally….I know there is an end in sight! YEAH!!!

So I have moved past the unsure stage and focused on the tasks ahead! Having this baby! I started to research a little about Induced Labor, Pitocin, etc. But after reading into it, I think I might decide that ignorance is the best policy at this point. Seems like the Internet is always ‘worse case scenario’ information.

Instead I have spent the last few days with my boys! Enjoying the quiet of life of one child. Laundry, grocery, naps and maybe a little pool time. If you knew it was a few days before you give birth…..what would you do?

I also decided if your belly looks like this:

BELLY!!! 39 WKS!

Then your toes deserve a little treat and get to look like this!

(not sure if I remember if I have ever had a french pedicure!!! yeah!)

I had been wondering recently when exactly the baby was coming… and here’s my answer! How exciting for you guys…and from the pic you’re looking great! Looking forward to seeing a “new baby” post on here…when you get a spare minute, that is :-) .

I hope my induced labor experience wasn’t one of the “bad ones” that you heard about recently! I think it’s a completely different experience if you get an epidural early! Don’t be like me and wait for 7 hours and you’re dialated 9 cm lol! I know everything will go fine! Maddox will be here before you know it and perfectly healthy! Drs know best and if they say he’s ready, then he’s ready! Don’t feel guilty about that at all! Peace of mind regarding all the other stuff and having your sanity is def worth it lol! You look absolutely fabulous as a 9 month pregnant mama! I’ll be praying for you tomorrow and can’t wait to here the news that Maddox has arrived!!!!!!!!!! Love ya!!!!!
