Meet our newest addition! Matthew Benjamin Burnett was born on January 8, 2013, at 7:40 pm coming in at 20 inches long, 8 lbs, 7 oz.
Life has been so fun and full of adventures with 3 boys! So needless to say, pregnancy, the holidays, working, juggling family time with everything else life throws at us, has limited my time to blog!
So I have a smidge of downtime while on maternity leave, so I am making sure to give a 1 month update on our sweet little Benjamin!!
1 Month Checkup stats:
9 lbs 9 oz (50 percentile)
22 inches long (75 percentile)
He is eating every 3 hours. (Formula & Breast Milk)
Jaundice from the first 2 weeks is long gone (and that darn bilirubin light!) and his color is back to normal.
We have a yucky case of Reflux! Maddox had reflux, but I don’t remember it being this early. Maddox also had copious amounts of spit up, the kid could really chuck the spit up into places you cannot imagine. Benjamin doesn’t produce very much spit up, his is more internal. You can tell how uncomfortable he is. It takes him awhile to get to sleep because he continues to reflux long after the feeding.
Big Brothers are adjusting nicely to having another brother in the house.
Mark: He is 5, in preschool and really not too worried about Benjamin. He will tell me when he is crying and sometimes will try to put the paci in his mouth, but really he just keeps to himself. His daily struggles are with Maddox and who gets to watch what cartoon or which lego tower to build.
Maddox: He is 2 and Ben’s personal watch dog. He loves Ben to pieces! He helps us more than we need! Shew! He LOVES to ‘see if his eyes are open’. He insists on putting the paci back in his mouth (regardless if Ben wants it or not) Sometimes he will throw the dirty diapers away, sometimes he likes to hold the bottle for him. He constantly wants to ‘check to see if he is crying’. He asks lots of questions…over and over again.
We are adjusting nicely, everything just takes time to figure out. Life with 3 children is busy, not terrible or out of control, just very busy! I feel like I will write another post on just the adjustment from 2 to 3 children, that seems to be the question we get asked the most.
**PS–I am late on posting this, very soon he will be 2 months. I CANNOT believe how much he has changed since THESE pics were taken. Stay tuned!!!
